Hier soir un diner cosmopolite sur ma terrasse avec un couple d’amis anglo-allemand on discute de tout et de rien, on échange sur nos expériences d’expatrié, on refait le monde. On discute de tout et de rien et arrive dans la conversation la rétrospective de Homai Vyarawalla. Aujourd’hui, après avoir un peu travaillé je saute dans un auto-rickshaw direction « National Gallery of Modern Art » de Bangalore pour voir l’exposition.
Homai est née en 1913 et elle fut la première femme reporter en Inde et son travail couvre la période charnière de l’Inde entre 1930 et 1970. Elle a côtoyé Gandhi, Nehru, Ho Chi Min et le Dalai Lama. On retrouve des clichés qui ont fait le tour du monde ainsi que des photos de vie quotidienne, notamment de la communauté Parsi dont elle est issue. Une invitation au voyage dans une Inde qui s’efface petit à petit.
Petit arrêt dans le parc de la National Gallery of Modern Art. On y découvre une belle ancienne demeure de Bangalore et on peut profiter d’un havre de paix au milieu de la bouillonnante Bangalore.
